Work has become completely borderless, and companies are taking advantage of untapped talent communities around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2023, an effective wor<\/span>ker needs a fast internet connection, a laptop and (maybe) a phone to work anywhere offshore (even globally). Your organisation needs to have the ability to identify, onboard and manage offshore staff \u2013 which in itself can be a complex task.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Questions asked<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do I pay them?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are my contractual responsibilities?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What does it look like from an accounting perspective?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do I find and assess the talent?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What about Provisioning IT Kit \/ Services?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are my cybersecurity risks?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How will I manage the offshore team?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are certainly challenges that need to be overcome, so what are the upsides? Will it be worth it?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talent Forge has been hiring offshore talent for a while, both as a high performing resource for our business and more recently to drive growth for our clients. It&#8217;s been vital to make sure our offshore team feel part of it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Learning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Training virtual workers is hard, regardless of where they are based. Managers at Talent Forge worked very hard to up-skill their offshore colleagues<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Incentives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Like your local team, offshore workers need to be incentivised to do their best. We made sure our Filipino team have incentives that work for them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Work From Home<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Commuting in Asia can be insane. Don&#8217;t expect to get the best talent if you are forcing your team to work in Metro Manila<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What we could have done better<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> More documentation of processes and tasks &#8211; Talent Forge tended to fly by the seat of our pants<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Setting clear objectives and expectations &#8211; Don&#8217;t assume people know what&#8217;s expected of them<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Internal structure around communication &#8211; Who is managing who?<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you have clear job descriptions for each contributor.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tech &#8211; Make sure your VPN \/ Hardware and Software are set up in advance to avoid bottlenecks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All Talent Forge Problems, and not to be blamed on our team. We raced headlong into the project and in the end the results were superb &#8211; But we could have been better prepared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The above are all &#8216;start-up&#8217; headaches and we couldn&#8217;t be happier with the outcome.
